Gin researches social policy issues on disasters, displacements, and climate action in Southeast Asia. His works have been cited in globally important reports and policy instruments like the:

​

  • Asian Development Bank's Report for Smart Flood Early Warning Systems and Gender and Inclusion Study (2021)

  • United Nations’ World Water Development Report (2021)

  • Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) 6th Assessment Report (2022)

  • UNFAO’s Men and Women in Fisheries and Aquaculture in Asia (2022).

 

His works are published in leading academic journals, such as Geoforum, World Development, International Journal for Disaster Risk Reduction, and Third World Quarterly. He is a Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Sociology and Social Policy at Lingnan University, Hong Kong.

 

He has ongoing interdisciplinary projects with rural and Indigenous communities in Malaysia and urban coastal and island communities in the Philippines.
